# Affiliate

#### What is an affiliate link? <a href="#what-is-an-affiliate-link" id="what-is-an-affiliate-link"></a>

An **affiliate link** is a tracked URL you share with your audience. Each one carries a unique **hash**, and every visit and signup that arrives with that hash is attributed to you — which is how your kickback is calculated.

Create one per channel rather than one for everything: a link for your newsletter, one for your Instagram bio, one for a blog post. The names are yours alone; nobody else sees them.

Find them under **Affiliate → Links** in the sidebar. The subtitle above the table tells you how many of your allowance you have used, for example *3 of 10 links used*.

#### The links list <a href="#the-links-list" id="the-links-list"></a>

| Column      | Description                                                                                      |
| ----------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Name** | Your own label for the link. Click it to open the link. |
| **Hash** | The short code that identifies this link. It appears in every sharing URL and cannot be changed. |
| **Created** | When you created the link. |

Each row ends with **View**, which opens the link's own page — its 30-day chart and its sharing URLs, see [Link Details](/partner-portal/affiliate/link-details.md) — and **Delete**.

#### Creating a link <a href="#creating-a-link" id="creating-a-link"></a>

1. Go to **Affiliate → Links**.
2. Click **New link**.
3. Enter a **Name** — something you will recognise later, such as `Newsletter` or `Instagram bio`.
4. Click **Create link**.

The link appears in the list with a freshly generated hash, ready to share.

{% hint style="info" %}
You can have up to **10** affiliate links. Once you reach the limit the **New link** button disappears; delete a link you no longer use to free up a slot.
{% endhint %}

#### Deleting a link <a href="#deleting-a-link" id="deleting-a-link"></a>

1. Go to **Affiliate → Links**.
2. Click **Delete** on the row you want to remove — or open the link and use **Delete** in its header.
3. Confirm.

{% hint style="info" %}
Deleting a link stops its hash being tracked: visits that still arrive on the old URL are no longer attributed to you. Anything already recorded stays counted, but the link and its history disappear from the portal. Retire a link only when you are sure it is no longer in circulation.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

#### Before you have any links <a href="#before-you-have-any-links" id="before-you-have-any-links"></a>

With no links yet the page shows a **No affiliate links yet** prompt and a **Create your first link** button, which opens the same dialog as **New link**.

#### Frequently Asked Questions <a href="#frequently-asked-questions" id="frequently-asked-questions"></a>

<details>

<summary>Can I rename a link?</summary>

Not from the portal today — the name you give a link when you create it is the name it keeps. If you need a different label, create a new link and retire the old one, or contact HolidayHero.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I choose my own hash?</summary>

No. Each hash is generated for you when the link is created and stays fixed for the life of the link.

</details>

<details>

<summary>How many links should I create?</summary>

One per channel you want to measure separately. That is what makes the [dashboard](/the-basics/dashboard.md) breakdown useful — with a single link for everything you cannot tell which audience is actually converting. You have room for 10

</details>

<details>

<summary>Where do I find the URL to share?</summary>

Open the link and look at the **Sharing URLs** card. It holds the **Partner URL** for the marketing site and the **Signup URL** for sending people straight to signup, each with a **Copy** button. See [Link Details](/partner-portal/affiliate/link-details.md).

</details>

<details>

<summary>I hit the 10-link limit — can I have more?</summary>

The portal caps you at 10. Delete links you no longer share to make room, or contact HolidayHero to discuss your setup.
