# Mollie

Mollie lets you take iDEAL, Bancontact, card and other European payments for upsells. Guests pay into your own Mollie account, and Mollie pays you out on their normal schedule.

If you are deciding between providers first, see [Taking payments for upsells](/integrations/payment-providers.md).

### Before you start <a href="#before-you-start" id="before-you-start"></a>

You will need:

* **A Mollie account.** Unlike Stripe, you connect an account you already own. If you do not have one, you can create it during the steps below, but you will still have to complete Mollie's own onboarding before you can take payments.
* Your workspace currency must be **euro**. Mollie is not available for workspaces in another currency.
* If you sell experiences that require your approval, read [What Mollie cannot do yet](http://localhost:63342/markdownPreview/2759662/markdown-preview-index-asvc9nkjkrhrkt3s85k27e4ggo.html#what-mollie-cannot-do-yet) first — those need Stripe.

### Connect it <a href="#connect-it" id="connect-it"></a>

1. Go to **Workspace → Settings**.
2. Under **Payment Providers**, select **Add payment provider**.
3. Give it a name you will recognise — for example your property or company name — and choose **Mollie**.
4. Select **Add**. You are taken to Mollie.
5. Sign in to your Mollie account and confirm you want to give HolidayHero access.
6. You are returned to HolidayHero.

You are granting HolidayHero permission to create payments on your Mollie account and to collect our commission from them. You can withdraw this at any time — see [Disconnecting](http://localhost:63342/markdownPreview/2759662/markdown-preview-index-asvc9nkjkrhrkt3s85k27e4ggo.html#disconnecting).

The connection screen expires quickly. If you leave it open and come back later, start again from step 1.

### Finishing Mollie's onboarding <a href="#finishing-mollies-onboarding" id="finishing-mollies-onboarding"></a>

Connecting your account and being *allowed to take payments* are two separate things.

After connecting, the provider may show **Additional information required**. This means Mollie still needs details from you — business details, identity documents or bank details. Use the button on the provider: it takes you to the onboarding page in **your own Mollie dashboard**, which is the only place this can be completed.

Reconnecting will not help — Mollie already has our permission. Only the missing information will change anything.

Once Mollie is satisfied, your provider is enabled automatically, usually within an hour. You do not need to reconnect.

You may see the provider become **Active** while Mollie is still reviewing some details. That is normal: Mollie often allows payments before it releases payouts. If that happens, guests can pay while your money is held by Mollie until the review finishes.

### What happens when a guest pays

1. The guest pays for the upsell at checkout, seeing a single total with one description rather than an itemised list.
2. HolidayHero's commission, at your **External Payments Fee**, is taken from that payment automatically.
3. Mollie deducts its own transaction cost — Mollie bills you for this directly, which is why our rate for Mollie is the lower of the two.
4. The rest is settled to your bank account by Mollie, on their normal payout schedule.

Nothing for upsell commission appears on your monthly HolidayHero invoice — it is already settled.

Your **External Payments Fee** is shown under **Workspace → Subscription**.\

What Mollie cannot do yet

**Experiences that require your approval.** These hold the guest's money when they book and only charge it once you accept. Mollie's payment methods — iDEAL in particular — take the money immediately and cannot hold it, so we do not offer Mollie for these experiences.

If an experience requires your approval and Mollie is the only provider you have connected, guests will not be able to pay for it. Connect Stripe for those experiences, or turn off the approval requirement.

**Currencies other than euro.** Mollie is only available for workspaces trading in euro.

**Itemised checkout.** The guest sees one line and one total. The full breakdown is still on their confirmation and in your admin — only the Mollie payment screen is summarised.

### Refunds <a href="#refunds" id="refunds"></a>

Refund in your own **Mollie dashboard**, then contact support so we can correct the commission and your records.

Please note: on a refunded upsell, the commission already collected through Mollie is not returned automatically. Contact us and we will settle it with you.

***

### Disconnecting <a href="#disconnecting" id="disconnecting"></a>

Contact support to disconnect Mollie. We withdraw HolidayHero's access to your Mollie account and mark the provider inactive, and your upsells stop taking payments through it.

Disconnecting does not affect payments already taken, money Mollie still owes you, or your Mollie account itself.

### Troubleshooting <a href="#troubleshooting" id="troubleshooting"></a>

**Stuck on "Additional information required" after connecting.** Expected — connecting and being allowed to take payments are separate. Use the button to go to your Mollie dashboard and complete what Mollie is asking for. Reconnecting will not clear it.

**Shows "Disabled" and never becomes Active.** Mollie has not yet confirmed your account can accept payments. Check your Mollie dashboard for anything outstanding. We re-check hourly, so there is nothing to press here once you have finished on Mollie's side.

**Mollie is not offered when adding a provider.** Either your workspace is not in euro, or Mollie has not been enabled for your workspace yet. Contact support.

**Guests cannot pay for one particular experience.** Check whether that experience requires your approval — Mollie does not support those. Everything else being equal, other experiences will still be payable.
